Founder Jamie Chung rediscovered ballet as an adult after a brief introduction as a little girl many years ago. After a few years of dedicated training, j.élia was created. What started as a new pursuit quickly became a meaningful part of her life - one shaped by the discipline of learning something so difficult, fueled by the satisfaction of progress and the beauty of finding a new creative outlet through movement.
Experiencing ballet as an adult shaped the way she looked at dancewear. She became especially attentive to how a leotard fit, moved and made her feel in the studio, as well as the small design details that could make something feel that much more considered.
The brand was created from the belief that a love for ballet does not have to begin from childhood to be deeply felt. j.élia reflects the experience of choosing dance later, growing into it with intention, and finding joy int eh details along the way.
Each piece is created to balance thoughtful design, functionality, and a sense of individuality for dancers who want what they wear in the studio to feel just as meaningful as the time they spend there.
